Monday we visited Portland, a round in Victoria that was cute and comfortable. There’s a botanical garden accessible by a tourist trolley. We opted out, choosing instead to do our laundry. The Norwegian Sun does not have coin laundry, so this was an extra special treat for us.
We stand in the downtown core, visiting a few shops. The main sporting goods shop had a sale on my brand of runners, and I was thrilled to leave my two-year-old worn out shoes in their recycle bin.
Our next stop was a craft market in a waterside park. Then we headed to the accessible playground. The roundabout has a seat for someone who can’t stand as they spin. One of the two zip lines had a chair. One of the trampolines had bars on each side for a child who had balance issues.
There were some able bodied kids playing while we were there, having a wonderful time.
Kangaroo Island

Tuesday, we rented e-bikes on Kangaroo Island. It was hillier than I expected, and the hills were long. I made it to Island Beach, a little under 20 kilometres from the rental place. Anita went another five or six kilometres before deciding that she should turn around.
She saw seven kangaroos crossing the road single file. I only saw the beautiful beach. And a lot of cockatoos.

As we made our way back to the tender, after a refreshing popsicle (pure juice), we stopped at a cafe with wifi.

The sidewalk was speckled with fruit splat. We looked up to see it was a mulberry tree.

As we waited for the tender, we saw a flock of black and white cormorants. Nice looking birds.

I have been surprised by the number of cockatoos that we’ve seen. Their song is more persistent than attractive. Regardless, it’s quite thrilling to see them.
