
Taking the Bullet Train was remarkably like taking the subway. They go almost as often. You navigate to the platform in much the same way as you do for the various subway lines.

There are two major differences: the seats face forward, instead of across from each other, and it costs more. Of course, the distance is greater between stops. Our trip of 440 km took two hours.
It was quiet and comfortable. There was power to charge devices. There wasn’t a lot of scenery — often we were behind fences or factories. We did get views of two faces of Mount Fuji. It’s so much taller than the surrounding mountains!
